Deduction of union fees

An employer is obliged to deduct from the wages of his employee the employee’s contributions payable to the relevant labour union on the basis of the WTP Act.

Furthermore, public servants are under the CAPS Act to pay unions contributions to the union specified in the relevant collective agreement, regardless of whether or not they are members of a union. In the private sector, the practice has been the same on the basis of collective agreements.
